Heading to Italy

We have some news, Emma has been awarded a PhD scholarship which she is quite excited about. If any of you were planning on coming to visit us in the Hawkes Bay then you only have a very short time to do so, as we are moving to Italy.

Well it is not quite that simple, Emma is full time in Italy, James is going to commute, he quite enjoyed travelling to Palmie for a day each week so he is going to try commuting to Italy…. (one month there, one month here).

The PhD is about denim jeans – or that is what James thinks anyway - but it is actually about muscles and how they adapt to training specifically how the genes change – very cool stuff and a great opportunity to work in some of the best labs in the world. Emma will be spending some time in Sweden, Denmark, Italy and New Zealand throughout the next three years.

It all starts soon, we head over to Italy on the 3rd March. (James is back in the first week of April) The area in Italy is Verona, it is a stones throw from Arco and some other awesome climbing areas (although this had nothing to do with the decision of course!). So Emma is busy getting the shoulder working so she can get back into some World Cups – all going well.

We are planning on being at the two North Island boulder comps so will see some of you there, and we are trying to organise a farewell bash – possibly at the Bay or after one of the boulder comps.

Once we have an apartment sorted out in Verona, there will be a bed and translator for anyone who wants to visit….
